How to properly sculpt a face, and what is it for?
av_timer12/17/2018Sculpting the face, that is, correcting the oval of the face and the shape of the nose, was invented by filmmakers. With artificial lighting, the face of actresses and actors often looked dull, and with the help of special tools, makeup artists gave it a fresh look and the right shape, while hiding some flaws and emphasizing the dignity of the face. Later, face sculpting migrated to the masses and interested makeup fans. Today, absolutely all self-respecting cosmetic brands produce a wide range of different sculpting products from sculpting powder, cream and blush to highlighters and shimmers.
It is desirable for all girls to know the basics of sculpting, but it is far from always necessary to apply them, because sculpted makeup is not suitable for all occasions. If you are going on a date or a party, then you may well surprise others with the ideal shapes of your face and nose, but, for example, for going to the clinic or the nearest store, such makeup will obviously be superfluous and inappropriate.
So, let's start learning the basics of face sculpting:
Before applying sculpting makeup, you must answer yourself the question, what is it for? And this is necessary to correct the shape of the face and nose, give the face the desired oval, visual rejuvenation of the face and correct imperfections. Sculpting can be achieved by creating shadows and natural highlights on the face. To understand which parts of the face need to be shaded, it is best to imagine where the shadows fall on your face in bright light above your head. The main part of the shadows in such lighting falls on the cheekbones, the sides of the chin and the supratemporal parts of the forehead. There you need to apply tinting agents that are much darker than your natural complexion or the tinting agent used for the general background (powder, foundation). Sculpting cosmetics should be matte, without glitter or shimmering particles.
Most cosmetic companies produce sculpting palettes with dark and light corrector (sometimes the dark corrector has several shades of different tones). A dark corrector is used to darken the desired areas of the face, and a light corrector is used as a highlighter to brighten certain parts of the face.
To correct the shape of the face, a dark tone must be applied to the line that runs from the corners of the lips to the upper part of the ear. Moreover, it is necessary to start darkening from the ear, gradually reducing the darkening in the cheek area. If you do the opposite, it will seem that you have bruises on your cheeks, and this is the failure of all makeup. By the way, this darkening technique creates the effect of “sunken” cheekbones and the face seems more correct and narrow.
Just above the line of application of the darkening sculpting foundation, you need to apply blush, and then highlighter. Just try to shade the transitions from tinting agent to blush and from blush to highlighter well, since the quality of face sculpting depends on shading.
In addition to the cheekbone line, sculpting powder or cream is applied to the area above the temples, on the upper part of the forehead near the hairline. For visual rejuvenation of the face and correction of deep-set eyes, a dark tinting agent should be applied just above the eyes. To do this, you can use not only a dark foundation or powder, but also matte brown shadows.
To correct an overly oval face, you need to apply a dark tinting agent on the side of the cheeks (from the line of the lips to the line of the ears), on the supratemporal parts of the forehead, on the right, on the left and in the middle of the chin (dotted). To visually narrow a very round face, applying a dark toning sculptor to the cheekbones (a light highlighter should be applied above this tool) and the neck area will help. And for girls with a square face shape, applying a dark tinting agent to the supratemporal part of the forehead and the lower part of the cheekbones will help smooth out the features.
To correct a wide nose, a thin light line (light powder or highlighter) should be applied to the back of the nose and bridge of the nose, and a darker tinting agent should be applied to the wings of the nose. To visually reduce a long nose, apply a light highlighter to the bridge of the nose, and darken the tip of the nose. A massive nose must be completely covered with a foundation that is half a tone darker than the main tinting agent applied to the face.
After sculpting the face, it is necessary to apply a thin layer of powder over all products to fix the result. In this case, the powder should be applied not with strokes, but with light clapping movements.
As you can see, everything is not so complicated as it seems at first glance. But in order to beautifully and correctly sculpt the face, practice is needed. Experienced makeup artists, who often practice face sculpting, are able to work real miracles and can turn the most ordinary girl into a beauty queen. One of the sculpting gurus can be called the famous makeup artist Promise Tamang-Phan, who masterfully masters the technique of correcting the face. The girl often uploads training videos on her youtube channel, and she herself uses sculpting when applying her own makeup.
Hollywood stars also serve as a good example of successful face sculpting, having mastered the technique of which, and you will look no worse than Western beauties. Well, hold on!
